Executive Director, FHES; Senior Lecturer, Department of Psychology

Dr. Syed Jamil H. Kazmi currently serves as the Executive Director of FHES and Vice-Chancellor (Designate) of Fatimiyah International University, alongside his role as a Meritorious Professor at the University of Karachi with over 35 years of academic, research, and administrative experience.  He has previously held key positions, including Chairman of the Department of Geography (twice), Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), and Director of ISPA at University of Karachi.

He earned his Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Karachi (1997) and completed Post-Doctoral research at the University of Georgia, USA (1998-99) under the Senior Fulbright Scholarship. He was also a Senior DAAD Fellow at Humboldt University, Germany (2018-19) and a Senior Research Associate at LASA lab., University of British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Kazmi has published extensively in Geo-informatics, Environmental Modeling, and Disease Ecology, with over 140 research publications and four books, including the Oxford School Atlas. He serves as Editor for six international journals and has one of the highest impact factors and citation rankings among Pakistani geography and GIS professors. An HEC-approved Ph.D. supervisor, he has guided 40 Ph.D. and 18 MPhil scholars and played a key role in developing geography curricula for HEC. As a consultant, he has worked with global organizations, including the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, FAO, NASA, and WWF, completing over 100 projects in GIS, Remote Sensing, and Environmental Impact Assessments.  Dr. Kazmi has trained 6,000+ professionals and actively contributed to international conferences, including AAG, ESRI, URISA, IGU, and IUCN. His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including:
